Our Story
J&H Automotive opened its doors in the summer of 2009. Jorge and Hector had spent years working together at a GM dealership, but when the 2008 recession forced that dealership to close, they decided to bet on themselves instead. They had the mechanical knowledge and the tools. What they didn’t have was much else. The shop started as a single bay with one lift, and their toolboxes doubled as their offices. Back then, Jorge and Hector did everything themselves: answering phones, writing estimates, ordering parts, and fixing cars. There was no separating the roles. If it needed doing, one of them did it.
Why Customers Keep Coming Back
From day one, the shop has run on three simple principles: integrity, excellence, and respect. That means really listening to what a customer needs, not just what’s convenient to sell. It means treating every person who walks through the door the way we’d want to be treated if our own car was the one on the lift. Nearly two decades later, that hasn’t changed.
Family Owned From Day One
The shop has never changed hands. Jorge and Hector have owned it together from the very beginning, and they still run it side by side today.
How It All Started
Jorge and Hector have been tinkering with things since they were kids, usually taking something apart faster than they could figure out how to put it back together. That curiosity turned into a career, and when the dealership closed in 2009, it also became the reason they decided to take their future into their own hands. Opening their own shop wasn’t just a backup plan. It was a chance to build something that was truly theirs.
Meet the Team
What started as a two man operation has grown into a full team. Today, a full time administrator keeps the back end of the business running smoothly, while two full time service advisors handle the day to day customer experience. In the shop, two master technicians take on the most complex repairs, backed up by three B level technicians who handle work suited to their skill level. Everyone has a role, and everyone plays a part in getting your vehicle back on the road right.
Life Outside the Shop
Jorge has been married to his high school sweetheart for 26 years, and together they’re raising three daughters, ages 25, 17, and 16. He enjoys raising livestock with them and teaching them how to work on cars, along with camping and exploring off the beaten path. He’s also spent time traveling the country, coaching and inspiring other shop owners who are working to grow their own businesses.
Hector is equally devoted to his family and enjoys playing golf and off roading in his 4WD Bronco in his downtime. Like Jorge, he’s traveled the country coaching and mentoring other shop owners chasing their own success.
